1975 National Champions

Returning from a fourth national title, Oklahoma sailed through its first eight games in 1975.  A surprising loss at home to Kansas during week nine offered little hope for taking the top prize this year. With only two regular season games and a bowl trip remaining, Barry Switzer's Sooners had their work cut out.

Then OU eked out a 28-27 thriller at Missouri before coming home to defeat Nebraska, 35-10. With the Big Eight title in tow, the No. 3-rated Sooners, headed to the Orange Bowl to meet Michigan.

OU prevailed in a14-6 slugfest and received assists when both No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Texas A&M suffered defeats in their bowl games.
